These were just gouache paints watered down a lot. To create the background, I just used the magic wand to highlight the black line drawings and then re-coloured them. The splatters are paint flicks scanned in.
Thank you for the explanation. What is the advantage of selecting the line drawing with a magic wand and then changing the colour, in comparison to just using a new copy of line drawing and changing the line colour of the line drawing alone?
Sadaf, I have just done Lesson 3 and now see how you can change the black line colour to be another colour by checking the colourise tab. I didn't know this when I did this drawing and it is a much better way/ cleaner to change the colour of the lines. Good to know now!
I'm happy with your initiative - figuring out a way to colour the line work. An advantage of doing it the way you describe would be that you could drag the collection to a multicoloured bunch of washes, and copy them. That would give you variation in the colours of line work. A cheerful image!
