I like the colours, Sarah, but the textured red-brown confuses the message of ROSE - the focal point of the image. I don't think it's the colour so much as the texture, as one expects to see smooth surfaces, or at the most velvety surfaces in a rose. Possibly some more targeted areas of that colour, just past edges of the petals and not so textured would give more of the three dimensional felling of the smooth and delicate petals of the flower.
On the other hand, I like the exuberance, so if you try redoing a layer or two, please don't lose that robust, extemporaneous quality!
