I was trying to find a way of using layers of texture to create form with less use of drawn line work, and this was a bit of a breakthrough piece with the shaddows. I als thought it was interesting to use the same textures in different colours and opacity to find new colours, and found using colour opposites worked quite well in this case.
Woah, this IS scary! And I also agree with Valerie that the shadow's very effective.
Other favourite parts: the positioning of the characters, the scribbles under the bed (mixed media - yes!), the overall shape of the composition and - especially - the extended, curved antennae encircling the girl and her entire bed!
Very successful, Linda!
