This image has lots of nice aspects to it.
The night colours and urban street evoke a jazz-era mood. The collage of hand lettering on the wall provides key words that remind us about Billie's career - or to those not familiar with her, hints at aspects of it.
The perspective of the text-covered side of the street, if viewed as a flat shape seems to be blasting forth from her intensely singing, soulful portrait.
However, the small text is hard to read, both because it's black on dark blue and its size.
Overall it's a strong compositional idea, but you may have tried to get to a bit too mu ch into one image, unless this were to be a wall mural where a viewer would walk to different points in front of it. But if not, have a look at the thumbnail in the gallery, which is a cropped version of your image. If the framing there were shifted a tad to the left, you'd have quite a strong, simple composition. The part about Billie's song Strange Fruit could be a separate illustration.
Play with framing and cropping as you work.
A forceful, atmospheric portrayal! A good exploration!
This is a beautiful illustration, the simple use of blues and black and white are great. The feature image draws you in, and then there's lots of careful crafted detail to be discovered. Also the shading on the microphone / hair really makes it come alive!
