Re-worked editorial illustration. Feedback please?

I liked the first one you did, but I think moving the dog and tick to the front makes the message clearer. Lovely style.

confession time - i actually didn't see the tick shadow in the earlier image. a very wise decision to move it to a more prominent position - for dolts like me. this is a good example of being 'your own worst (best) critic,' and improving on what you've done rather than simply being satisfied with first results.
