the way you've downplayed everything but the dog and the meal was an excellent decision. in the earlier black and white version i was distracted by how 'heavy' the speech bubble was, but this way it works just fine. the bits of pink on the dog add to the sense that it's a specific dog. they draw the viewers eye down to him and his his special qualities and make us sympathetic to him. well done.

Great work. I like the different treatments to the food, the dog and the background. Its separated nicely and make a good composition.
