Thanks Christine, only the canyon walls and words I added digitally. The sketch was done at Petra using a 0.4mm fineliner and then I use Tombow ABT dual brush tip fibre pens which I wash, similar to water colours using a Pentel water brush. The colours were original, I didn't have to enhance. It was hot and dusty, but that view after half an hour of walking is truly spectacular. In reality the people were smaller. Plenty of curious onlookers
Thanks Nathalie, when you first sight the relief carvings, it is at the end of a narrow dark canyon. So it gave me the idea of adding the walls.
Yes Christine I normally carry 96 Tombows :-) but whilst travelling about 30.
Thanks for the feedback Aafke and Mari-Mai, the sketchy nature was really driven by necessity/ time constraints, it was fairly ornate in parts so I was trying to give an impression. Also the camels & people kept moving around of course, so attempting to catch one by one. The pens give a cheerful colour.
Thank you Sarah, one of the things about Tombows seems to be that they are bright and somewhat cheerful - more so than water colours - at least for me. They are also very quickly applied, certainly helful when sketching in the heat.
